I have not done well with the Rockies this season–in fact, this may be one of the only returns I have gotten from anyone in the organization. But it is a good one, I think.
Oberg was drafted in the 15th Round, 468th overall, in the 2012 draft. He is a former Tommy John patient, but the surgery did nothing to hurt his college numbers, were he pitched out of the pen for Connecticut. He has kept that role within the Rockies system, and continues to do really well; this season he racked up 33 saves, allowing only 34 hits with 61 K’s and 27 walks in 53 IP.
He has some great pitches, including a nasty curveball, and despite the high K’s often pitches to contact, inducing grounders. There is not reason that he should not continue to pitch well as he moves to AA next season, with a possible call up as early as 2015.
