Acquired TTM two seasons ago.
I always get excited when an ex-Athletic joins the Tribe. There was a little while this season when it looked like the Indians would sign Balfour…but they ended up getting Axelrod instead. A bummer, but Axelrod was cheaper, so I guess I don’t blame them.
Balfour is a free agent right now, and it has not been a pleasant off season. He had a deal in place with Baltimore, but when they got a look at his medical records they waived off. This would not be too unusual except nobody is really sure why. Balfour and his agent say he is fine, and two other teams are public saying that they did not find anything in his record. Its all very odd.
Based on numbers alone, he looks healthy. Last season he saved 38 games for the A’s with a 1.197 WHIP and 145 ERA+. He was also selected to his first All-Star team.
