New Arrival: Phillip Ervin, cf, Reds

Card: 2013 Leaf Trinity Philip Ervin

I like Ervin a lot. He was the 27th overall pick in the 2013 draft, taken by the Reds out of Samford University.

He was a really safe bet for the Reds, and projects as a above average all round player in the big leagues. There are some concerns that he might not stick to CF, and might have to move to a corner spot…but when that is the worst thing you can say about a guy things are going pretty well.

He is an exciting prospect, despite his lack of a standout tool. I think he will be a 20 HR, 10 SB, high OBP type guy, and should hit nice as a #2 hitter in the Cincinnati line-up.

Very cool card, too.  Dig the inscriptions that they did.  Leaf if putting out some really neat products this season.
