From the Collection: Jose Vidro, 2B, Expos

I have no idea why, but when I think of the Expos I only think of Vlad and Vidro. And I actually like Vidro more. He was a scrappy second baseman who got on base and also had a little bit of pop. If memory serves he was not really all that great in the field, but his offense was just good enough that you were willing to overlook it. From 1995 to 2005 he had a really great run, with the highlight being his 2000 season when he OPS .918 with 24 HR. He would be selected to three All-Star Games and win a Silver Slugger at second base.

He was a 6th Round pick in 1992 out of Blanca Malaret High School in PR.

  1. Vidro beats the second name I think of (behind Vladimir Guerrero, of course) when I think of the Expos: Fernando Seguignol. Yep. Don’t ask. I can’t even explain it as much as I can’t believe Vidro was a 3-time all-star selection . . . 2000 Fleer Autographics. Beautiful set.
