2013 Topps Chrome Jose Fernandez Auto

I wrote to Fernandez in 2012, and he declined to sign my sweet spot card, but did send a copy of this Bowman rookie signed.  It was very nice of him.  But the card did not really survive the mail ride to Hawaii, and so I ended up tossing it.  I meant to write back, but never did.

That season he would go 14-1, and cement himself as one of the best prospects in the game.  Last season he proved how much he deserved that title, going 12-6 with a 0.979 WHIP, an All-Star game selection and Rookie of the Year award.

This season getting his autograph was a goal.  I was going to suck it up and get him one card Bowman rookie autographs, but it is pricey.  This card was not quite so expensive, and I think it looks just as good.  Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am not a card collector, but an autograph guy–so there is no reason to spend an extra $50 on a rarer card with the same autograph.
