Marus Doi is hitting .388 on the season. He is carrying a .455 OBP with 9 RBI. He has had some injuries this season, but is back to full strength. He and Marc Flores are big reasons why Hawaii is having the season that they are.
Last season he was one of the three best baseball prospects in the islands, behind Kean Wong and Iolana Akau, both of whom were drafted this past season. Doi was drafted too, by the Chicago Cubs as an outfielder in the 25th round. But he did not sign, transferred out of Mid-Pacific university, and joined Hawaii. I know a bunch of people here that I have spoken to think Doi was better than either of those guys.
Doi is hitting very well, and if he keeps it up he looks like he will be taken a lot higher the next time he gets drafted.
