As a Cleveland fan I really, really dislike everything Pittsburgh…but the Pirates. Not sure why, but I really like that organization. And right now its a great time to be a fan, since not only is the big league club winning but the system is bursting with great prospects. Jacoby Jones is one of them.
Drafted in the 3rd round (87th overall) by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013, he was rated one of the Pirates Top 20 prospects this season. His numbers so far this season are pretty good–.288 AVG, .751 OPS–so its nice to see him holding his own in A ball. I was reading “Baseball America” and saw that most scouts consider him a 5 tool player, which says a ton about the kind of player people thing he will become. With him, Polanco, Austin Meadows, Josh Bell, Barrett Barnes and Harold Ramirez the Pirates look like they have plenty of outfield options for the next several years.
