Matt Imhof was rated the #4 prospect in the Big West, and his having a season that proves why. He is 8-2 with a 1.87 ERA in 10 games. He has allowed only 39 hits and struck out 97 in 67 innings. With Imhof and Casey Bloomquist the Mustangs have one of the better 1-2 punches in the game. I know that there is a lot of talk he might go in the first round, which says a lot about his talent. He is the biggest prospect that we have had roll through Hawaii this season, so it will be neat hearing his name called in June. I heard talk that the Dodgers are interested in him…and I know that they are also eyeballing Hawaii’s Scott Squire…so it would be cool to see them both taken in the same draft.
I got him on Friday night, when he was scheduled to pitch. Out of respect I never ask the starting pitcher for an autograph before they pitch, but a guy that was there did, and Matt signed. It was very nice of him, and it was a lot of fun having his autograph while I watched him pitch (and destroy Hawaii). Still, I am going to wait until after a guy pitches to bug them. for an autograph.
