Cody Dickson played at Sam Houston State.  During his three years there, he went 17-11 with 77 K, 31 walks and a 1.28 WHIP in 81 innings.  He has three good pitches–~95 mph fastball, and abover average or average curveball and changeup–that made his a legit starting major league prospect.

He would be drafted in the 4th Round, 119th overall, by the Pirates.

He was lights out in 2013 with Jamestown, and is holding his own this season with West Virginia.  He is rated the Pirates #20 prospect by Baseball America, and John Sickles  noted  “Live arm, seems like the type of pitcher that the Pirates are good at refining. Breakthrough possibility.”
