New Arrival: Job Chamberlain, rp, Detroit Tigers

resized_IMG_0006

Joba pitched in Hawaii back in the days of the Hawaiian Winter League, and was also a pitcher for my ex-hometown Cornhuskers, so I have followed his career pretty close over the years. I talked to him a little when he was here on Oahu, and thought that he was a really nice guy. It was a lot of fun seeing him become such a big deal in New York.

He was with the Yankees for the longest time, which meant that his autograph was near impossible to get. Getting him in-person at the Indian v. Tigers game was one of the highlights of my vacation this year.

He is having a real nice season in Detroit, and is closing games right now for the Tigers.  Its good to see him having such a nice season, and hopefully he keeps it up.
