Lonnie Chisenhall was a really well though of prospect, but ever since getting his first call up in 2011 he has never really had a sustained run of success in the majors. There were flashes, but they were brief. Last season he was terrible all year, and this offseason it seemed like just about everyone was starting to consider Lonnie a bust.
Then this season rolled around, and he was hitting. At first it seemed like a fluke. Cleveland was playing him almost only against righties. But as the season went on his numbers just kept getting better…even against southpaws. His splits tell the story:
The highlight of the Chisenhall’s season was a June 10th game against the Tigers. He would whack 3 HR, five hits and 9 RBI. And he has not slowed down. Just tonight he collected another couple hits in a victory of the Royals. The dude just can’t be stopped.
So now the Indians have a real player manning the hot corner…the first really good guy since Travis Fryman. Hopefully Chisenhall can keep it up. With him, Kipnis, Santana, Brantley and Gomes its a nice core to build around.
I was able to snag this card a couple weeks ago for ~7 bucks. Not bad. The autograph is really nice…chrome cards never scan well for some reason. Always makes it look like the autograph is faded a little.
