From the Collection: Chris Giménez, C/IF/OF, Cleveland Indians

Chris Giménez was drafted by the Indians in the 19th Round of the 2004 draft out of University of Nevada-Reno.

I feel bad that he did not get a better shot with the organization.  He put up really good number while he was moving up through the organization, though he was never able to get a lot of respect as a prospect.  He would get some at bats in the majors in 2009 and 2010 before leaving the team as a free agent.  He has bounced around with a couple of teams, getting some big league at bats with Seattle and Tampa Bay.  This season he signed back with the Indians, and was on the Tribe roster at the end of the season.

He is a very good AAA player, but really does not have a place on most 25 man rosters.  Still, being a very good AAA player who gets to play in the majors every now and again is way more talented then most players…so he should be very happy with the career he is having.

  1. Hello,
I really enjoy your blog. I wish they had something similar when I started collecting signatures back in 1968.
I see you have a signed 2011 Topps Lineage TG Joey Votto. Any chance you want to trade for it? I am trying to complete this set. To go along with my original 1964 Topps Giants signed set. I completed it as a kid. I have lots if duplicate signed cards, mostly 1970’s, if you are interested.
    Please let me know.
    Thank you,
    Karey

    • Yes. That is me. Les and I were close friends before his passing away. Did you ever come up with a Horvath signature?
Any chance you might want to trade your Joey Votto Lineage TG card?
I do have some vintage Browns and Indians signed cards and 3×5’s.
      Please let me know.

      • Wow, that is very cool. I did…it was tougher than I thought that it would be. I have a nice little vintage Browns collection, but there are always players that I am missing…I would be super interested in trading!

      • I noticed your baseball needs list. I can help you with Ken Holtzman (1969T 1971T 1973t 1974T 1975T 1976T) and Jerry Koosman (1973T 1975T). Are you still looking for them?
I also have a lot of 1960’s and 1970’s signed Indian’s cards, as well as hundreds of others.
Please let me know what you looking and willing to trade for

      • Hello,
I am still interested in trading for your Joey Votto signed 2011 Topps Lineage TG card. What would you trade for it?
I have hundreds of vintage signed cards from all 4 sports. Mostly early 1970’s but others as well.
        Please let me know.
        Thanks,
        Karey
