Anderson Hidalgo signed with the Twins as a international free agent in 2006 out of Venezuela.
From 2006 to 2012 he playing in the Twins organization, getting as high as High-A Fort Myers. Just eyeballing his stats he never really put up bad numbers, especially for a middle infielder. 2012 was a pretty rough year, hitting .236 with a .618 OPS, and in 2013 he signed with the Frontier League (independent) Lake Erie Crushers.
With the Crushers he has put up pretty fantastic numbers, especially in 2014 when he carried a .397 OBP, .807 OPS and 7 HR. He also walked more than he struck out (51 to 44), which is something that I always dig seeing in a modern player. He also is able to play just about every position expect catcher and pitcher–so that is a plus. I am really surprised that no team has taken a flier on him.
I have said this before he, but I want to say it again: The Lake Erie Crushers is some of the most fun you will have watching baseball in North East Ohio. I went to one game this season while on vacation, but if I would have known how much fun I would have I would have skipped a few Indians or Lake County games. I plan to go to a couple in 2015 if I am able to be in town. The players are cool, the stadium is nice, and the game is fun to watch. Very Cool.
