New Arrival: Steve McQuail, 1B/DH, Arizona Diamondbacks

Steve McQuail was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 30th Round of the 2010 draft out of Canisius College in New York.  He spent two seasons with the organization before moving to Independent League ball.  He put up some great numbers while there, showing excellent power, and even won a Championship with the Schaumburg Boomers.  He was signed by Arizona in October 2013, and in 2014 spent time at three levels.  This season he spent more than half the season with High-A Visalia, hitting .225 with a .274 OBP, 10 HR and a .712 OPS.  I like to think that he will start out at Visalia again in 2015, but if he keeps hitting for power and walks a little more I think he will move quick.

I was able to get this autograph while he was in Lake County while playing for South Bend.  I am a really big fan of Independent players who make their way back to the organized ball, so I am really rooting for him.
