From the Collection: Jordan Parraz, of, Houston Astros

Jordan Parraz was taken in the 3rd Round of the 2004 draft out of the College of Southern Nevada (Henderson, NV) by Houston.

He was a five tool prospect coming out of college, and also a two way player who showed more promise as a hitter than a pitcher. Despite his tools–and he had all five–he was still a little raw, both at the plate and in the field.

As he moved through the minors his hitting skills improved, but most observers noted that the his success was built on hard work more than natural baseball acumen.  He never developed a lot of power, but could nail the gaps and had a plus-plus arm.

Houston traded him to the Royals in 2008, but his development into a prospect petered out.

He is still in the game, and while he might just be an organization body he has put together 11 solid seasons…better than most guys can say.
