I wrote to Mitch Nay a couple months ago, and recently got a return back. It was a nice surprise, though the card that he sent–a minor league team card–did not survive the trip across the ocean. It looks like it got water on it, and was pretty damaged. So I did some research and found that he had a nice Bowman Chrome auto, and I was able to snag it for ~$5. He included a little note with the autograph that made fared better than the card, so I am still satisfied with the deal.
Nay was taken with the 58th overall pick (1st Round) of the 2012 draft by the Blue Jays out of High School in Chandler, Arizona. He was rated the Blue Jays #24 prospect in 2012 and #4 in 2014. This season he hit well in Low-A, with a .285 AVG/.342 OBP. He is not yet hitting with the power that some thought that he might coming out of high school, but he is young and there is time for that to come along. He should start the season out in High-A Dunedin, were he did get 37 at bats last season, and by the end of the season his prospect status should be more clear. Obviously I will be rooting for him.
