47 HR and not a single MVP Vote Edition: Troy Glaus, if, 1998-2010

2003 UD Bonus 2000 SP Authentic

If you want a good example of the way the game as changed over the past ten or so years…look no further than Troy Glaus.

In 2000 Glaus hit 47 HR, knocked in 102 runs and carried a .404 OBP with 1.008 OPS. He was both an All-Star and Silver Slugger. Despite those numbers, the dude did not get a single MVP vote. That season Jason Giambi would win with his 43 HR and 1.123 OPS.

Glaus had a great career.  Four All-Star appearances, two Silver Slugger awards and he was the World Series MVP of the 2002 Angels.  The dude had a very nice run.

This card is a weird one.  Its a 2003 Upper Deck card technically, but its originally a 2000 UD SPA auto that was stamped with “UD Bonus”, numbered, and issued as a insert.  Its kinda cool.
