Brian Fletcher was drafted in the 18th Round of the 2010 draft out of Auburn.

He hit really well in his first season full season of pro ball, carrying a .386 OBP and .946 OPS in 341 at bats.  He had a decent BB/K ratio–his strikeouts were a problem in college–so he was moved up next season to High-A and then AA.  He was even ranked one of the Royals Top 30 prospects in both 2011 and 2012.

He shows good pop and carries a nice average, but I think his strikeouts are keeping his OBP pretty low and hurting his prospect status.  He is still young–25–and at AAA.  I could see him getting some time with the big league club this season…and maybe a long term stay if he can get on base a little more.  He has real power, and could make a very nice bat off the bench.
