Ian Happ, of, Chicago Cubs

Ian Happ

Very cool to go to the mailbox and find a 9th overall pick waiting for you.

Ian Happ was taken in the 1st round (9th overall) out of Cincinnati by the Chicago Cubs in 2015.  He is a very exciting prospect since there is not question that he is going to hit, and really the only unknown is what position he will man in the majors.  There was talk prior to the draft that teams were looking at him as an offensive minded second baseman, but it seems the Cubs are more comfortable with him in the outfield.  I think he will be successful at either position, and that it is his bat that will dictate how fast he moves.

He wrecked it while in low-A Eugene (.898 OPS), and is holding his own at Low-A South Bend against older competition.  He is one of the Cubs top prospects, and I see no reason why he should not see some time in AA by the end of 2016.
