Taylor Ward, of/1b, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Taylor Ward

I was very excited to get this autograph.

Ward was drafted by the Angels in the 1st round (26th overall) of the 2015 MLB June Amateur Draft from California State University Fresno.

To say that he hit the ground running in his pro career would be an understatement. Initially he was assigned to Rookie League Orem, where he hit .349 with a .948 OPS. It was pretty obvious that he needed a little stiffer competition, so he was bumped up to A-Ball. At Burlington he he is still hitting extremely well, with a .333 AVG and .690 OPS through his first seven games.

The Angels made a very good selection with Ward, and he is already one of the organizations top prospects–at a position that it always tough to find good hitting young players.  He should have a long career.
