So I was excited to get Caleb Ponder because of his impressive high school resume and interesting power potential. What I did not notice until this evening is that we graduated from the same High School, Mentor. I was class of 2000, he was class of 2014…so we probably did not have a lot of classes together. Mentor is a big high school–when I was there is was by far the biggest in the state–but its still weird to bump into someone from the same hometown 3,000+ miles from home.
On the season Potter is hitting .167 with a .286 OBP and one HR in 12 at-bats. That is a tiny sample size, and there is plenty of time left in the season to improve on those numbers.
