Carlos Carrasco is another player that I sent a ton of cards to Spring Training for, and they just keep getting sent back, unsigned. Its a bummer. But considering most of those consignments would have cost me ~$20, and I was able to get this for $13, whatever. I am happy with this.
You have to love Carrasco’s career. There was a point in early 2014 where it looked like he was just going to get straight up released. His 2013 was terrible (1-4. 6.75 ERA), and he was not even able to stay in the rotation. Out of options, the Indians plugged him back into the rotation in 2014, and after four starts he was 0-3 with a 6.95 ERA. He was dragged into the pen…his last opportunity with the big league club. I was really rooting for the dude. He was the centerpiece of the 2009 Cliff Lee trade, and he seemed like a nice guy…so I was really hoping he would be able to get it together.
By late August he had righted his ship enough to rejoin the rotation. And something clicked. From 05 August to 27 September he would start 11 games (73 IP), and would go 5-6 with a 1.60 ERA. Batters would only hit .190 off him. He was pitching like the player the Indians hoped they traded for back in 2009. And since then he has been one of the best pitchers in the AL.
