From the Field: 2016 MWL All-Stars

Zach Nehrir, C, of, Diamondbacks – 16th round pick out of Houston Baptist, he is having a down year in Low-A, hitting .242/.280/.306 with 1 HR. One problem is the strikeouts, with 62 to only 14 walks.

Logan Taylor, 3b, Mariners – 12th round pick out out Texas A&M. Having a very nice season in Low-A, with a .268/.367/.409 line with 10 HR. He has 118 K’s, but also 60 walks.

Tyler Krieger, 2b, Indians – 4th round pick of the Indians out of Clemson. I am a big fan–both because he is an Indian, and also because he is wrecking it as a pro. Between Low-A and High-A, he went .299/.377/.417 with 5 HR. He also has 21 SB…though was caught 15 times.  Still, he looks like a legit prospect. Only bummer: he does not sign sweet spot cards. So stupid.

Trevor Mitsui, 1b, Diamondbacks – Drafted twice. One in 2011 by the Rays in the 12th round, then again in 2014 by the Diamondbacks in the 30th round. He has one plus tool, power. This season between Low and High-A he went .295/.330/.403 with 7 HR. Lots of K’s too, at 118.

Juan Kelly, 1b, Blue Jays – OK season in Low-A, going .274/.356/.448 with 12 HR.  Also had 11 SB and was not caught stealing.
