2016 Indians Organizational All-Stars

Catcher –  Francisco Mejia, Lynchburg (42 games), Lake County (60 games)

Notes:  50 game hitting streak was…impressive. Very happy that he was not traded in the Lucroy deal.  He, Yan and Perez are a logjam that I can deal with.

First Base –  Nellie Rodriguez, Akron (132 games)

Notes: Little surprised that Bobby Bradley did not get it…but Nellie did have a heck of a season. 26 HR in AA is pretty good, though I do worry that he is Jesus Aguliar 2.0.

Second Base –  Mark Mathias, Akron (five games), Lynchburg (115 games)

Notes: Big fan, since I got his autograph when he played here in Hawaii.

Third Base –  Yandy Diaz, Akron (26 games), Columbus (95 games):

Notes: My favorite player in the organization. Hopefully sees some major league time in 2017.

Short Stop –  Erik Gonzalez, Columbus (104 games), Cleveland (21 games)

Notes: Classic utility guy, and got some time with the Tribe this season.  I imagine he wont stick with the organization, but I hope he lands with a National League team that can use his flexibility.

Greg Allen, Akron (37 games), Lynchburg (92 games)

Notes: Second favorite player in the organization? Sure. He is fast and is a top notch defender. And he can hit!  Not a lot of power..but he looks like a classic centerfielder.

Anthony Santander, Lynchburg (128 games)

Notes: Nice bounce back season. He has always had a ton of talent, but never got a full season in due to injuries. Not this year, and blossomed in High-A.

Bradley Zimmer, Akron (93 games), Columbus (37 games)

Notes: With Frazier gone, the #1 prospect in the organization.

Utility Player – Tyler Krieger, Lynchburg (59 games), Lake County (69 games)

Notes: Excitement for him tempered by his refusal to sign sweet spot cards.

RHP Starting Pitcher –  Matt Esparza, Lynchburg (seven games), Akron (20 games)

Notes: Lead the org in K’s, with 141.

LHP Starting Pitcher –  Shawn Morimando, Columbus (11 games), Akron (16 games), Cleveland (two games)

Notes:  Led all Indians Minor Leaguers with 15 wins while sporting a 3.25 ERA and 119 strikeouts across two levels.

Relief Pitcher –  Shawn Armstrong, Lake County (two games), Columbus (47 games), Cleveland (10 games)

Notes: Another favorite player, who also had a legit 2o16 at the major league level.
