Juan Hillman was a 2nd round pick of the Indians in 2016. He was a polished high school arm, with a low-90s fastball, curve, change.
Hillman came into the season one of the Indians top 10 prospects, and opened the season with short-season Mahoning Valley. After a hot start, he hit the wall in August (1-3, 7.54 ERA in 22.2 IP).
Despite the bumpy season, there is lots to like. He is still young–he will only be 20 next season–and had plenty of time to develop. i imagine he will open the season in Low-A Lake County, though I could also see him start the season in extended Spring and working his way to full season ball a month or two later.
