From the Field: Joey Cora, if, Cleveland Indians

Joey Cora had a good career. He was a first round pick pack in 1985, and spent 11 years in the majors, playing for a half dozen teams. He was not a particularly great player–he only had one season of an OPS+ north of 100–but he was a solid defender that could man just about any position in the infield, and was competent with the bat (.277/.326/.277 career). Great players are…great…but guys like Cora are what make good teams happen. You need good utility guys, of which Cora certainly was one. And he was on plenty of good teams. He played on four playoff teams, though non made it past the ALCS.

He did have one All-Star season (1997).

Cora would eventually get a World Series ring, when he was third base coach for the White Sox in 2005.

I got this at a Akron game, where is a coach with the Pirates.  And, good for him, I saw that he was just added to the Major League coaching staff for the 2017 season.
