New Arrival: Jason Krizan, of, Detroit Tigers

Jason Krizan–an 8th round pick from 2011–had a good 2016 in AA Erie. He hit .295/.371/.474. Not only does he hit, but he also has gold glove caliber defense. He was a mid-season all-star and awarded a MiLB Gold Glove.

I was at the Eastern League HR derby, in which Krizan hit 11 in the first round, nine in the second and won the competition with 10 in the third.  It was a great performance. But it was also a zoo, and autographs getting was not so good.

I was able to get his autograph the day after the ASG, when Erie was playing in Akron. It was a last second thing, and I caught him just as he was finishing warmups. I wasn’t even trying for Erie guys, but while I was looking for my father in law I saw that him and the other Erie all-star, Connor Harrell, where walking off the field together. I moved quick, and snagged them both. It was super cool to get them.

Krizan ended the season in AAA, where he hit .302/.374/.406. He is really old for a prospect–he will be 28 in 2017–but I would not be surprised to see him called up. With his plus defense he might be better suited for a National League team.
