New Arrival: Barry Bonds, of, San Francisco Giants

2016 Topps Transcendent

I am as thrilled as the next guy that Tim Raines is probably going to make it into the Hall of Fame this year…but man…Bonds. People, vote for Bonds.

I get it. He was a jackass. He was a huge dick who used lots of steroids. But the numbers. Just look at the numbers.

He is the all time leader in HR (762), IBB (688) and BB (2,558). He retired with a line of .298/.444/.607. And then there is the hardware:

14 x All-Star selections
7 x NVP Awards
8 x Gold Gloves
12 x Silver Sluggers

And I could go on.  Come on, look at this crap:

I mean, maybe we should be happy that he did steroids since that meant we could just keep seeing him play…he was literally a generational talent, and I have yet to see a player that approaches his level of domination at the plate. And I would not be surprised if I never do.

Imagine if he was not a complete dickhead to everyone?  Imagine if he was this good, but was as fan friendly as someone like Mike Trout or even Bryce Harper?

We would be asking him to run for President.

  1. Of course Bonds is a HOF er. I got to see Barry a lot here in NorCal . The single guy you would stop whatever you were doing to watch an AB. With or w/o the juice. BTW – Pete Rose. Enough already. Total Jackass but no one played every play like Rose. Or at least looked like they were.
