New Arrival: Derek Fisher, of, Houston Astros

Derek Fisher is quickly becoming one of my favorite players in the minors.

Fisher was drafted in 2011 (6th round) out of High School by the Rangers, but didn’t sign and decided to go to the University of Virginia. In 2014 Houston drafted again, this time in the 1st round. They signed him.

Since then he has ranked the Astro’s #13, #10 and #9 prospect. He has an intriguing mix of power and speed, and over the last two seasons was the only players in the minors to have 20/20 seasons. His power also comes with a good eye at the plate, which helps supplement the K’s that will come with his power approach. He is not great with the glove, but he brings so much with the bat you can forgive him average play in left field.

He is a very exciting prospect.
