New Arrival: JD Davis, 1B/P, Cal State Fullerton

Last season (27 April), I went to downtown Honolulu to see Hawaii play Cal State Fullerton. It was a great game, but the guy that jumped out was a player named JD Davis. Davis would have about as perfect a night as you could imagine: 5-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. He also pitched Cal State out of a jam in the ninth inning.

Davis would have a great season: .318 AVG, 4 HR, 31 walks to 37 K and a .407 OBP. As a pitcher, he went 1-2 in 23 innings, allowing 19 hits with 17 K and 7 walks. He would be named to the Fullerton All-Regional Team, Big West Conference First Team and Big West Player of the Week. He was also named to the 2013 Cape Cod All-League Team, and rated as the No. 12 prospect in the Cape Cod League.

Baseball America rated him the #20 college prospect for the 2014 draft.

Bummer that Cal State is not coming here to Hawaii, but a guy that I met lives right next door and was able to get these for me.  Very exciting.
